Pitcher Rankings
Tier 1
1. Chris Archer – There is not much that has to be said today for Archer. He’s at home vs. a righty-heavy Orioles lineup that strikes out. He is by far the highest projected pitcher on the slate and no one else is close to him.
Tier 2
2. Luis Perdomo – He is too cheap on DK in a home matchup against the righty-heavy Tigers that will lose their DH playing in an NL park. The strikeout upside is there for Perdomo and I think he might be way under-owned on DK due to his recent struggles.
3. Michal Fulmer – Fulmer is a guy I do not love to target with his limited strikeout upside, but today is the perfect spot for him. He is in San Diego vs. a righty-heavy team and a pitcher’s spot. He should be able to pitch deep into the game and is in play to have a ceiling game at a discounted price.
4. J.A. Happ – The Royals have been much improved over the last month, but I love this strikeout spot for Happ. No one in this lineup scares me and 7-9 is awful. He matches up great with everyone in the lineup and I wouldn’t be shocked if he reached double-digit strikeouts today. There is always risk with Happ, but I do like him better than Wood without even considering price.
5. Alex Wood – There is always risk with a priced-up starter for the Dodgers. The bullpen is well rested and Dave Roberts is not afraid to pull his starters early. The strikeout matchup is great today vs. this Rockies lineup. Still, they are righty-heavy and that could lead to run prevention issues that add to the risk of it being a short start for Wood. Kenta Maeda is fully rested and ready to go in long relief as a RHP that is very strong vs. RHBs.
Main Pitchers to Target with Hitters
Rick Porcello – Great hitting weather in Boston today. I believe the Angels will be under-owned and are in an elite spot at cheap prices. LOVE Maybin and Calhoun tonight and I like the stack of Maybin-Calhoun-Pujols-Escobar/Valubuena-Simmons. I expect it to be very low owned with great upside. They also make for a great part of any 4×4 at their cheap prices.
Alex Meyer – Again, great hitting weather in Boston. Love all the LHBs. Moreland, Bradley, Benintendi all in great spots. Mookie Betts is always one of the best plays on any slate.
Ubaldo Jimenez – He has been better lately, but always struggles with walks, steals, and power to LHBs. Mallex Smith in a great spot to reach and steal. Corey Dickerson can do everything today. Logan Morrison in a great power spot. Souza from the right side is a great play as he has better power vs. RHBs and has steal upside.
Jharel Cotton – You want RH POWER vs. Cotton. The CWS have tons of it. Great spots for Abreu, Garcia, Frazier, and Davidson.
Adam Wainwright – He should retire. Another great spot for the finally healthy Gregory Polanco. I don’t mind anyone else in the Pirates lineup in a stack, but they do not stand out as one-offs for me.
Jakob Junis – The Blue Jays should be popular today and I do not hate the matchup, but I am not going there myself.
Mark Leiter – Hasn’t shown anything at the MLB or AAA level to make one believe he can survive in Chase tonight. Diamondbacks should be one of the highest scoring teams on the slate. Peralta, Lamb, Goldschmidt are the obvious plays. Drury has been great and is way too cheap on FD.
Patrick Corbin – RH POWER. Altherr, Joseph, Franco all in great spots for homers tonight in Chase.
