TAMBO’S TEE TIME
Travelers Championship
Hey everyone!
Welcome back, and thanks for joining me for the 22nd edition of “Tambo’s Tee Time!”
Please remember that customer service is my #1 focus and you can contact me anytime with any feedback, questions, comments or concerns and I’ll be happy to accommodate as quickly as possible. The best place to reach me is on Twitter; @ToeTagginTambo or to email me at toetaggintambo@gmail.com.
*NOTE: With the new DK Guidelines you will be receiving lineup templates as opposed to full lineups. You will need to fill in the final blank with a recommended pick from my article here, and you will also need to take the players I provide and convert them into as many lineups of your own as you can afford to do so. A lot of people asked about this, and typically the best way to do it is to only slightly swap the top-priced guys, while really mixing up the mid to low-priced guys. The top guys will normally be in the mix regardless, but the mid to low are always tough to gauge, so we need exposure to as many as possible.
Another Major and another WIN! I think I’ve only lost in Cash for 2 Majors ever now and this win now moves us to 14-7 in Cash Games on DK this season. Let’s keep it rolling again this week. I actually have a lot going on right now, but have still done tons of research for this week. I am going to keep the article short and sweet in the spirit of time (writing this at 2am and work at 8am). I am going to call it a MEDIUM Cash week here. There are still lots of soft pricing this week, and I am looking forward to getting my 15th win out of 22 weeks!
This week DK is back to the $33 “Dogleg,” which is a 150-entry max and has a top prize of $50,000 for 1st! This is my absolute fave GPP on DK and I’ll for sure have some action in there! If you like to play more lineups, or have a bit smaller bankroll (you shouldn’t if you’ve rolled with my cash lines!) there are a few nice smaller buy-ins this week like the $8 that still has great prizes for all! Again, I recommend playing MEDIUM in Cash games this week. Good skill!
The Course:
Course: TPC River Highlands
Where: Cromwell, Connecticut

Featured hole: One of the most exciting holes on the PGA Tour is the 296-yard, par 4, 15th hole at TPC River Highlands. There is water to the left and sand to the right. Anywhere from a 2 to 6 can be recorded on a player’s scorecard when walking off this green.
Key Stats:
Some of the key stats this week;
SG: Off the Tee
SG: Approach
Par 4 Scoring
Birdie or Better %
Picks & Fades:
“Chalk lock of the week”
Brendan Steele ($9,000): Love him for Cash this week. He also has GPP-upside, but is especially a good cash play. He just played well at the U.S. Open, and hasn’t missed a cut in ages. Game sets up nice here!
$9,000-$11,600:
Paul Casey ($9,700): GPP and Cash. He’s always right in the mix and has some of the best stats we want this week. Has been there a lot lately, but it’s usually his putter that holds him back. This week putting is important, but also will be more hit or miss due to the slower greens. Should be a “Scorer’s Paradise” and if Casey gets his rock rolling, then look out!
Others to consider: Spieth ($11,400), Thomas ($10,200), Reed ($9,500), Leishman ($9,300).
$7,300-$8,900:
Charley Hoffman ($7,300): Cash and GPP both! I like him a lot more for cash actually, but he definitely still has the upside for GPP. I sound like Happy Gilmore here, but “The Price is WRONG…” you know the story! $7300 for a guy that is always in the mix and also just had a great finish at the U.S. Open with an 8th place finish. He also could have been my “Chalk Lock” of the week. Very close 2nd! Get him in there.
Others to consider: Stanley ($8,600), Streelman ($7,800), Lovemark ($7,700), Cauley ($7,400).
$6,300-$7,200:
Webb Simpson ($6,900): Another seemingly very low price here. This guy has been in the late groupings on Sundays a lot this year. This course sets up well for him and I expect him to pay off value easily at this price. Cash and GPP again for me!
Others to consider: An ($7,100), DeLaet ($7,100), Hadwin ($6,800), Lee ($6,800), Glover ($6,600), Vegas ($6,400).
“Fade of the week”
I very rarely recommend a complete fade, because again, if you are playing 150 lineups, throw them on a couple. However, if you are playing a small amount of lineups then I believe you can do without this guy:
Russell Knox ($7,800):
Steve Stricker bit us in the ass last week, but we can’t win them all. We have been nailing this fade lately, and this week I am going to last year’s former winner – Mr. Knox! He has been playing horribly this season, minus one or two tournaments, and I am going with a much tighter core this week. He actually does set up better for these style courses, I just can’t count on him to make the cut this time out, regardless of getting a win here a YEAR ago!
Remember, this is golf! Anything can happen on any given week. If you go low on someone and they fail, you will be significantly ahead of the pack.
That’s all for this week everyone! Please reach out via email or Twitter if you have any questions, comments, feedback or concerns. I’m always available to support and hope you have a great week!
Good luck and good skill!
