Welcome to Hitting the Upper 90 with @SodakStriker

Hey there, it’s Friday June 23rd, 2017 and Week 17 of MLS is upon us.

Here is a look at The 2017 MLS Season CASH GAME Record!

RECORD6.21.17

Last Saturday was Week 16 and we came up just a couple points short of the cash line in 50/50s and Double Ups. On Wednesday it was great to win as we are now (11-5) on the 2017 Season! On to Saturday Week 17 we go!

Listed below are all the following matchups and the team listed above the other is considered the “Home Team”.

This week’s slates:

WK 17/34 – MLS Main 5 game slate – Saturday 6 PM CDT.

MLS WEEK 17 FIXTURES

mls all games 23

Saturday’s 5 GAME SLATE – 6 PM CT.

Colorado Rapids @ Atlanta United

Current predictions are:

57% Home Win – 26% Draw – 17% Away Win

Previous Head to Head Fixtures:

  “None”

Key Focus: Both teams were handed an “L” in Wednesday night’s MLS action. It will be an easier bounce back for Atlanta United who have won four of their six home fixtures this season. Colorado suffered a hit to the attacking third of their team when Mohammed Saeid went down in the second half with a serious-looking knee injury and Kevin Doyle most likely broke his hand. Atlanta have no problem scoring goals – 32, a league high – and all points show to them putting on a good show at Bobby Dodd!

D.C.United @ Philadelphia Union

Current predictions are:

40% Home Win – 31% Draw – 29% Away Win

Previous Head to Head Fixtures:

May 13, 2017 DC 0 – 4 PHI
Apr 1, 2017 DC 2 – 1 PHI

Key Focus: Remember that hot streak Philly was on? That’s old news and it’s gone! The Union have suffered three straight losses, two of those losses on the road. This team is looking to hunt their way back into the win column and there’s no better matchup than D.C. United. With only 12 goals scored in 16 games, D.C. have the worst attacking threat in the league. D.C. managed to pull the strings the right way and managed to take all three points against Atlanta on Wednesday night at home. With only 4 days of rest, squad rotation comes into play as a factor in the starting 11 D.C. rolls out. Philadelphia is licking their chops as they routed United for a 4-0 victory back in May.

Montreal Impact @ Columbus Crew

Current predictions are:

35% Home Win – 33% Draw – 32% Away Win

Previous Head to Head Fixtures:

May 5, 2017 MTL 2 – 3 CLB
Key Focus: Unlike some of the other teams on the slate that played Wednesday night, both Columbus and Montreal have been in resting mode, and both teams are excited to get into game groove again. Columbus are one of the league’s best home teams (5-2-1) and that’s where they get to host a Montreal side (1-2-5) that has proven their point on the road. Pulling off five draws on the road has been key for Montreal racking up points this season. This matchup should provide plenty of fantasy production and it will be fun to find the pieces needed from this exciting matchup!

Vancouver Whitecaps @ Minnesota United

Current predictions are:

33% Home Win – 33% Draw – 34% Away Win

Previous Head to Head Fixtures:

Key Focus: Minnesota have looked like a completely different team these past few months, their quick turnaround to grabbing wins and bagging goals has caught a lot of attention. Fresh off a 3-2 home victory against Portland, Minnesota gets to welcome Vancouver to the Twin Cities this weekend. Differences here are the home and away splits for each team. Minnesota has won five of their eight home games and Vancouver has two victories in 6 road trips. The fact that this Minnesota team could push their way into the playoff picture has raised many eyebrows, and all signs point to 90 hard minutes of action on Saturday night!

Orlando City @ Chicago Fire

Current predictions are:

59% Home Win – 25% Draw – 16% Away Win

Previous Head to Head Fixtures:

Jun 4, 2017 ORL 0 – 0 CHI

Key Focus: Chicago are unbelievably great this season. A huge contributor to their success has been playing in front of their home crowd, where they have won seven of the eight, with the one other game being a draw. Just like I mentioned last week, Orlando have been in trouble. Having two consecutive weeks where they salvaged themselves a point in stoppage time from set pieces isn’t going to hold. Chicago are the biggest favorites on Saturday night’s slate, and many fantasy players will have some key parts of Chicago!

Top 2 Goalkeeper’s

GK – CHI – Matt Lampson – $5600

Matt Lampson is a top goalkeeper selection this weekend because Chicago have been lights-out at their home stadium and are the biggest favorites to win. Lampson has a team that will push to score all game and, D.C. are among the league’s worst attacking teams, but their midweek 2-1 victory could spark their interest into attacking more. Paying up for the top goalkeeper this weekend should assure you with at least 10+ points.

GK – MIN – Bobby Shuttleworth – $4900

Shuttleworth played well in Wednesday night’s matchup with Portland, recording three total saves and picking up the five-point win bonus. Bobby has had 29 saves in the past five weeks, and that has pushed him to a grand total of 55 on the season, which ranks third in the league.

dillonserna

Wildcard Pick

M – COL – Dillon Serna – $3000

Serna has been used off the bench frequently this season, but on Wednesday he got the nod in the starting 11 and didn’t hold back. Dillion put together a 24-point performance, sparked by a brilliant strike from 20 yards out. So, half of that 24-point performance came from that (12 point) goal and his other 12 fantasy points came from having five other shots with two more being on frame, and he drew three total fouls in a wonderful 90-minute outing. With the recent injuries the Rapids attack has been dealing with, Serna could see his name on the team sheet Saturday night in Atlanta.

christianramirez

Top Target

F – MIN – Christian Ramirez – $7400

Now sitting in fourth place for goals scored (9) this season, Ramirez has now scored in each of his last four home games. The 26-year-old California native wasn’t selected in the 40-player preliminary Gold Cup Roster, and being snubbed of an opportunity to represent his club is only going to motivate him even more. Ramirez doesn’t contribute a whole lot to the other stat categories but he sure knows how to finish off a ball. Vancouver has been dealing with issues along their back line these past few weeks and if a new face gets put in along that back line, Christian will be sure to take advantage of that, and sneak in behind them for opportunities at goal!

davidaccam

nemanjanikolic

Top Target

F – CHI – David Accam – $8800 / Nemanja Nikolic – $8300

So, having one and/or pairing both in a lineup on Saturday night is something I have put some serious thought into. Accam (7) and Nikolic (13) have been scoring the goals for Chicago this season. These two have scored 20 of the 27 goals this team has scored this season. With Chicago being the biggest favorite to collect all three points, having part of the Chicago attack will be important!
